Why Domino exists.

Jessi, the founder of Domino, sitting on the edge of a bed in a brown grid-print tee, black trousers, and polished black shoes

Hi, I'm Jessi. I built Domino for the kid I used to be — and for you.

When I was a kid, my hair was never brushed and my clothes were secondhand. Other kids picked on me for it, and the question I heard more than any other was, “Are you a boy or a girl?” It was never really a question. It was a way of telling me I didn't fit.

So I spent years trying to. I went through phase after phase, trying on different versions of myself to see what felt right.

At 19, I started working at a clothing store, and slowly, something shifted. I started dressing the way I actually wanted to dress, not the way I thought I was supposed to. I learned what my style truly was. And I learned something bigger: when what you wear finally matches who you are, the way you feel about yourself changes.

Domino is the place I wish I'd had back then. A space where queer people, and anyone finding their way to themselves, can explore safely and comfortably, ask anything, and never feel judged. No question is too basic. No look is too much. No identity needs explaining.

Why “Domino”?

I've always played sports: softball growing up, roller derby as an adult. On the track, I skate as Domino, named after Domino Harvey, the London-born model who walked away from fashion to become a bounty hunter. She was fierce, didn't care what anyone thought of her, stayed true to herself, and was a complete badass. That's the feeling I want everyone to walk away with.

Where I am now.

I'm in my 40s, still working in fashion, and finally in a place where I can do what I love for more people than I could ever help one at a time. Domino is that: a stylist who gets it, whenever you need one.

What Domino stands for.

Welcome. You belong here.
